Liveaboard Diving in Komodo

Why Dive from a Liveaboard?

Day boats from Labuan Bajo can only reach a handful of nearby sites, often spending 2-3 hours just getting there and back. A liveaboard puts you right where the action is — more dives, less travel, better sites.

Remote dive sites only accessible by liveaboard

Access

Remote Dive Sites

Komodo's best dive sites are scattered across the national park, some 3-4 hours from port. A liveaboard anchors right at the site — you wake up, gear up, and dive. No long boat rides, no rushed schedules, no sharing sites with crowds.

Multiple dives per day from a liveaboard

Flexibility

Up to 4 Dives a Day

With no commute to worry about, you can fit in up to 4 dives daily — including sunrise and night dives that day-trippers never experience. More bottom time, more variety, more encounters with Komodo's incredible marine life.

Comfort

Surface Intervals Done Right

Between dives, relax on a spacious sundeck, enjoy freshly prepared meals, or explore secluded beaches by paddleboard or kayak. No cramped day boat — just comfort, space, and the best surface intervals you've ever had.

"Absolutely perfect. Mario and the crew are true professionals — they know the sites, the weather, and really take care of the guests."

Liveaboard Diving in Komodo

A Classic 6D5N Dive Trip

You'll ease into the rhythm on Day 1 with an afternoon dive, then enjoy up to four dives a day — morning, afternoon, and even night — at some of Komodo's best dive sites. The schedule is designed to suit all experience levels while making the most of the currents that bring the reef to life.

On Day 5, we take a break from diving to meet the legendary Komodo dragons on land. With a top-tier guide-to-guest ratio and a flexible approach to planning, we're all about great dives, good timing, and making sure everyone feels confident in the water.

Typical 6-day dive trip plan aboard Moana

This graphic gives you a snapshot of what a typical 6-day, 5-night trip aboard Moana looks like.

Each dive icon represents a water activity — primarily diving, but also snorkelling for non-diving companions.

On Day 1, we usually manage a second dive, depending on arrival times and conditions. Day 5 might also include an additional dive, depending on logistics and guests' flight schedules.

On your final morning, we make our way back to Labuan Bajo for airport or hotel transfer — ending the trip on a smooth and stress-free note.

Liveaboard Diving vs Day Boats

Why Liveaboard Wins

Many divers in Komodo book day trips from Labuan Bajo. Here's why experienced divers overwhelmingly choose liveaboards instead.

Remote islands accessible only by liveaboard

Advantage

Access & Range

Day boats are limited to sites within 1-2 hours of port. A liveaboard covers the entire national park over 5 nights — north, south, and everything in between. You'll dive sites that 95% of visitors never see.

Comfortable cabin on Moana liveaboard

Advantage

Comfort & Recovery

After 3-4 dives, you want a hot shower, a proper meal, and a comfortable bed — not a 2-hour bumpy boat ride back to town. On Moana, your cabin is 30 seconds from the dive deck. Rest well, dive better.

Secluded beach accessible by liveaboard only

Advantage

Value for Money

A single day trip costs €150-200 for 2-3 dives. Five days of day trips equals €750-1,000 for fewer dives, no meals, no cabin. Moana's all-inclusive rate of €2,495 includes 18 dives, full board, cabin, transfers, and guides — better value by every measure.
